When applying for Sterling's Discretionary Discounted Gift Trust (DDGT) or Discounted Gift (Bare) Trust (DGBT), this calculator* can be used to obtain an indication of the discount rate applicable to the donor(s).

Acceptance of the donor(s) for this type of trust is subject to their health. The actual discount rate will be health specific and confirmed by Sterling on acceptance. For details of how our underwriters will assess which of three categories your client falls into, please click here.

You will require the following information to be able to produce an illustration:

• the sex of the donor(s)
• the date of birth of the donor(s)
• the smoker status of the donor(s)
• the amount to be invested
• the level and frequency of the 'income' required (maximum 7.5% pa for DDGT and 5% pa for DGBT)
• any 'income' escalation
